A little about Ricardo
Where are you from?
“I grew up in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, South Africa. I love football and played semi professional football in South Africa. I also represented my country at table tennis. I also love coaching football and table tennis and motivating people to really go for their goals. I have been asked to do motivational talks in South Africa and here in Wales and just last week I had the great privilege of speaking to the Scarlets squad.”
Last year was a special one for you, why?
“I got married to Naomi on 14th August 2010!! ”

What experience have you had working with young people?
“I spent 15 years working with youth in the communities of Cape Town. I also enjoyed working with the rugby academy at the University of Stellenbosch also in Cape Town. In addition to this I spent three summers helping to lead camps in the U.S.A. For the last three and half years I have been involved with the charity Sporting Marvels in the Rhondda valleys.”
What are you looking forward to in your new role?
“I’m really excited about my new role. I want to help youngsters discover their talents and encourage them to really go for it! I also want to encourage young people to take steps in leadership so a big part of my role will be helping to equip them to lead amongst their peers.”
Tell us about your love for Jesus
“I love Jesus so much! He is the one who saved me and who gave me a second chance in life. There have been some tough moments along the way. On the eve of signing a professional football contract my ankle was badly broken and my hopes and dreams lay in tatters. I asked a lot of questions in the weeks and months that followed. It was during that time that I started asking some pretty big questions about life. I sought God as I had never sought him before and miraculously he healed me and I have not looked back since. He is truly a life changer.”
We’d love to welcome you too!
All the best
